Below is bio information about the member of our Board of Directors. Click on a picture for an enlarged version.
Kim Ruth: (President of the Board): Kim Ruth received a BA in Communications with an emphasis in public relations from Campbell University in 1991. She worked for 12 years in the communications field, predominately working for Richmond advertising firm Siddall as an account executive and strategic planner. Kim took a break from the ad world to make a home with her husband Richard and mother two children, Landon and Shelby. Her passion to communicate effectively to the public has never died and she embraces the role as board president to help tell the story of the many girls in crisis that need to know God's love and care. At age 17, Kim gave birth to a son and gave him up for adoption. She knows first-hand the spiritual roots that plague the girls that will receive help from Northfield. Kim believes that God is especially fond of His girls and through His power; every girl can be set free.
Fred J. ( Skip) Windbiel: Skip received B.S. in Business Administration from Central Michigan University June 10, 1967. Self-employed as a public accountant for over 19 years specializing in tax preparation, accounting and small business counseling, life and health insurance sales and financial planning. He is a member of Better Business Bureau, National Society of Tax Professionals and annual award winner of Million Dollar Round Table. Skip has been on board of directors of various non-profit organizations for over 30 years. He is a charter member of the Church of the Epiphany (1979) and has been married to Nancy for 39 years, has 2 children and 3 grandchildren.
Catherine Boyle: Catherine graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Accounting. She later added a Master of Business Administration degree from Virginia Commonwealth University to her list of academic credentials. Catherine enjoyed a successful career in a large southeastern bank where she served as Vice President in Corporate Trust and in Strategic Marketing. Catherine’s final corporate assignment was Vice President over key areas of the bank’s Y2K project. In spite of the corporate allure, after the birth of her second child Catherine gave up her banking career for the role of full-time “Mommy”. Catherine served as Treasurer for her church for three years, and helped start the church’s weekday preschool program. Today, Catherine spends her time writing, speaking and teaching about the truth and application of God’s Word. Although many verses of God’s Word have great personal importance to Catherine, her favorite by far is Jeremiah 29:11—“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you, and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” It is Catherine’s great desire that all people would know this verse to be the truth, for it is God’s passion for every life.
Sherry Shrader: Sherry graduated from Medical College of Virginia with a Bachelors of Science and Nursing. She is currently employed with Virginia Department of Health as a School Health Nurse Specialist. In the past she has worked as the Director of Special Services for Youth Empowerment Services, Nurse Case Manager for the Family Assessment and Planning Team of the Richmond Health Department, and worked nursing positions in ambulatory care, psychiatric services, and cardiology. She is an active volunteer staff member of the commonwealth clinic and is certified as CPR Instructor, Crisis Intervention Training, and basic Critical Incident Stress Management Training. Sherry has had personal family experience in dealing with eating disorders. Her daughter has been suffering with an eating disorder over the past five years. Sherry will coordinate the licensing efforts on behalf of Northfield.
Sigmund Seiler, MD: Sig graduated from Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University’s medical school in 1986 and Medical College of Virginia’s family practice residency program in 1989. Sig has been in private practice in Midlothian since then. He participates once a month in Crossover Free Clinic and has been to Honduras numerous times on medical mission trips. Sig is active in his church as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He will oversee the general medical needs of the girls at Northfield. Sig has prayed, along with Gwen, for many years about God’s purposes for them regarding an affiliation with the Northfield property. It is amazing to see God’s plans unfold.
Gwen Seiler: A registered RN, trained at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Medical College of Virginia, Gwen has been interested in eating disorders since nursing school days when one of her friends was anorexic and bulimic. She has worked with youth and college students for years in her church and has a passion for leading young women’s Bible studies. She has encountered eating disorders in young women often and sees a tremendous need for a place locally where girls in crisis can go for help. The treatment center at Northfield is the result of more than thirteen years worth of listening to God’s call and seeking the courage and wisdom to follow through. It is her desire to help them see themselves through God’s eyes and to recognize their beauty and worth as God’s creation. She wants young women to have the opportunity to live abundant lives, free of disorder and guilt. Gwen is the visionary for Northfield and Executive Director of the ministry. Gwen and Sig have three teenage daughters.
Trish Harper: Trish Harper received her BS in Nursing from the University of Virginia in 1985 and began her career working with newborns and their mothers at the Medical College of Virginia. She quickly broadened her practice there to include labor and delivery where her passion for young women in crisis grew. Trish returned to school to pursue a law degree which she received from the College of William and Mary in 1990. Throughout law school, Trish continued to work as a labor and delivery nurse at MCV and returned there when she took a break from the practice of law to begin a family. She and her husband Glenn have three children, Libbie, Molly Anne, and Vaughn. Trish is currently in-house counsel to an engineering and construction firm (and nurses whenever she can!), and has found in Northfield an opportunity to use both her legal and nursing skills to assist a group of young women desperate to understand the love of God. It is her desire that Northfield will be able to help these girls recognize their infinite worth to God and to see themselves as He sees them—beautiful and worthy of the abundant life He has to offer.
Tom Mishoe: I first learned about Northfield Ministries at Bon Air Baptist Church and became involved through the Salt & Light Sunday School Class. One of the things that immediately caught my eye was the passion displayed by Gwen Seiler and other involved volunteers such as Christine Shepard, Brad Dalton and Brad Rosenlund. And I have seen more of this passion from others, such as Kim Ruth and Cathy Boyle, as I began to get involved with the Northfield Board of Directors. As I became further involved with Northfield, the need for this ministry became so apparent. As a father, I have seen the friends of my two daughters deal with eating disorders and unplanned pregnancies and have seen the significant personal and family impact caused by these challenges. I am humbled by the opportunity to serve Northfield Ministries and to make some small contribution towards assisting these young women and their families who are dealing with the challenges of eating disorders and unplanned pregnancies.
